V.K.Murthy,the name mostly unfamiliar to many movie enthusiastics in India.For the record he is one of the eye of legendary Guru Dutt.He is the man who captured the beauty of Waheeda Rehman in Kagaz ke Phool.Yes,he is the cinematographer who started a new era in Indian cinema industry and now the first cinematographer to win Dadasaheb Phalke Award in India.
The first man to shot 75mm film in India deserved this award long ago.But happy to know that finally Govt.of India recognised the work of this great technician who gave new dimension to cinema.
A Kannada movie called "Hoovu Hannu" directed by S.V.Rajendra Singh Babu is well known for great songs sung by Dr.Rajkumar,SPB,C.Ashwath,thanks to the brilliant music by 'Naada Brahma' Hamsalekha had cinematography by Mr.Murthy for which he won an award from Karnataka Govt.The biography of V.K.Murthy named 'Bisilu Kolu' written by Uma Rao,(Kannada) was released in January 2006 at Bengaluru.
Congratulations Mr.Murthy for the award.
